Katie Aselton’s Black Rock Gets Its Sundance Premiere

Interested in watching a terror hottie get her start as a director? Then you’ll want to check out Black Rock when it makes its appearance, because it will feature exactly that. And even better, she won’t be alone on the terror hottie part of things either.

Featuring Kate Bosworth along side Aselton, Black Rock follows three childhood friends who go off for a weekend of catching up on an island. But the island isn’t as deserted as they thought it was, and that which is waiting for their arrival may not be too interested in letting them leave in one piece.

Word is that the premiere went extremely well, with a variety of distributors in the hunt for it until it landed distribution with LD Entertainment, who in turn reportedly beat out several other possible candidates including Gold Circle, Lions Gate, Magnolia and IFC, all big names in indie in their own right. Current word says this may hit by the end of the year, so keep it right here for all the latest news on this one.

Total Recall Remake To Feature Some Familiar Moments

For those of you who were concerned, like me, about the Total Recall remake looking virtually nothing like its predecessor, you’ll have some reason for good cheer thanks to some word from Len Wiseman, who said that some of the original’s “iconic moments” would be back in the remake.

Featuring Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel on the terror hottie front (not to mention one of my personal favorite actors, Bryan Cranston), this time we’re not going to Mars, but rather pitting Euromerica and New Shanghai against each other, and our old boy Douglas Quaid finds himself in the midst of Euromerica wondering if he’s a spy…and for whom. The rest of the film will have him trying to figure out just who he’s really working for, if anyone.

Not too far off from the original, I suppose, though they should have left well enough alone, I’d say. The original was some pretty good stuff, so why not stick to the original formula? While we don’t know just what moments from the original will be coming back, it will be kind of interesting to keep an eye out for them, little Easter eggs for the longtime fans. Keep it here for all the latest on this one, which is set to hit August 3rd.

Ashley Bell To Return To The Last Exorcism 2, Shooting Starts In February

While The Last Exorcism didn’t exactly make a big splash in the box office, it did sufficiently well to merit a sequel. And the good news is, especially if you liked the last one, the new one will be starting shooting just next month.

The Last Exorcism 2, which will once again feature Ashley Bell as Nell Sweetzer, isn’t exactly giving up a whole lot of information right now about the plot line and such, though chances are that cult will be returning and drawing in sacrificial victims once more.

The current word, though, suggests that this one will wrap shooting later this year, with an expected launch of January 2013. January hasn’t exactly proven tops for the release schedules, though, but I’ve seen some very good pieces indeed come out of January releasing. It’ll be interesting to see where they take the sequel, so keep it here for all the latest on this one.

Thirteen Gets Distribution With Universal

I’m always in the mood for a little shot of found footage filmmaking, and Thirteen’s going to not only give us just that, but they’re going to splice it in with an unexpected comparison. There are already comparisons between this and Flatliners.

Thirteen, featuring Renee Tab in the terror hottie slot, follows a group of med school students who find themselves experimenting with death, specifically, coming back from it. But what they’ll find on the other side of that line between life and death may well leave them on the wrong side of it, permanently.

Could be good stuff, I’d say, and I’ve always been fond of found footage movies. Sure, this may be a little more like Flatliners than anyone wants it to be–the plotlines sound nearly identical with the critical difference of the found footage part of the plot. I’m looking forward to seeing how it all turns out, though there’s no word as yet on the release date. So keep it right here for all the latest Thirteen news.

The Pact Gets A New Clip

Exciting news out there for you guys who were looking forward to The Pact: not only did it get its big premiere out at Sundance, which posted reasonably good word in response, it’s also got a fresh clip for you to check out.

Featuring Agnes Bruckner and Kathleen Rose Perkins among others, The Pact follows a woman who’s returned to her childhood home following the death of her mother. And the return home has not only dredged up some memories she finds less than pleasant, it’s also activated an old presence in the home, one that has anything but the best of intentions for our newly-arrived heroine. But will she be able to survive the trip home and find out just what’s been going on in there all this time? Or will the presence in her home take her down with it?

Exciting proposition, I’d say, and the clip doesn’t look half bad either. It’s not the best thing I’ve seen in some time, but considering how far down the whole thing goes, it’s better than you might think. No word about a release date on this one as yet, but hopefully we’ll have distribution details by the end of Sundance, so keep it right here for the latest.

Resident Evil: Retribution Gets Its Trailer

Big news for you today, folks, as we’ve recently found out that the trailer has emerged for Resident Evil: Retribution. And it’s looking pretty nice indeed.

Resident Evil: Retribution, featuring Li Bingbing, Sienna Guillory, Michelle Rodriguez and Milla Jovovich, takes us back out to the planet in the midst of a plague of virus-induced horror as what’s left of the Umbrella Corporation is rallying around its most secretive and most protected facility. But Alice, backed up by some good friends she’s met along the way, is still out there, and she still wants to bring Umbrella down. And she’ll be traveling around the world, from Tokyo to Moscow and everywhere in between, in a bid to take out Umbrella once and for all.

The trailer looks pretty sharp indeed, packed with all manner of action, which is pretty much what we’ve come to expect from this series. I’m still a little torqued that the series is devolving into an action movie with occasional zombies and random mutations rather than a much heavier zombie picture with some occasional mutations.

Still though, we’ll get to see how the second to last installment comes out when it hits theaters September 14th, so keep it here for all the latest, and check out the trailer!

A Still Of The Monster From Grabbers Emerges

Anybody in the mood for some killer calamari? Guess what, folks–that’s what’s on tap with the upcoming release of Grabbers, a movie that will show us the true power of booze.

We go out to a tiny fishing village, along with our terror hottie of choice Ruth Bradley, in Ireland where the villagers are living pretty normal, quiet lives. At least, they were living normal quiet lives until the bizarre sea creature showed up demanding blood. But the villagers are about to fight back, with the best weapon they have at hand.

This one sounds like a lot of fun, and the best part is the monster in question looks pretty cool, even if it does look like a small octopus or the like. It’s making its appearance out at Sundance in just a couple days, so hopefully this one will hit a wide release sooner rather than later. But keep it right here for all the latest.

Sixth Resident Evil To Be The Last, A Prequel May Follow

From the sounds of things, Milla Jovovich is about to be pretty busy, and hopefully plenty of terror hotties will be following along. While we’re about to walk into the fifth installment of the Resident Evil series, Resident Evil: Retribution, there’s already word brewing about a part six, as well as the possibility of a prequel.

Basically, we’re already up to the fifth one, looking to hit later on this year. And considering that the previous four installments did as well as they did, it’s pretty much sure that they’re going to keep this going until the grosses start to fall off. Thus, it’s not a surprise to hear that a sixth one is almost certain to hit.

There’s even a possibility that they might go the prequel route with one of the upcoming titles, likely having something to do with the creation of the T-Virus, or maybe some early information with Umbrella. There are a lot of possibilities, but director Paul W.S. Anderson suggests that the sixth one is set to be the last, no matter how the grosses turn out, unless of course this one doesn’t pan out.

So keep it right here for all the latest ahead of the release of the next to last!

Michonne Will Hit Walking Dead Eventually

New reports have emerged about the future of the series known as The Walking Dead, and one of the show’s currently missing terror hotties has to be Michonne, the sword-slinging zombie walker who quickly distinguished herself as one of the series’ best fighters. At least, she did in the comics. And now, she’s about to make her way to the show.

We don’t yet know who will be playing her, nor when she’ll actually make the jump from the comic to the smaller screen, but one thing’s for sure, if her role sticks anywhere close to the comic, she’ll be chopping up a whole lot of zombies with her signature blade and doing a whole lot of damage.

And of course, the entrance of Michonne only increases the likelihood that, one day, the Governor will make his appearance, at which point the series could probably end and it would be the most awesome thing television has ever seen. Keep it right here for the latest on this one, because it’s going to be a pretty big deal indeed.

New Still Emerges For 7500

There’s a fresh still out there for 7500, and while we’re not getting a whole lot out of this one, we are getting more than we had, and that’s certainly better than nothing.

With Amy Smart and Scout Taylor-Compton just part of the terror hottie lineup, 7500 takes us up on a plane heading from Los Angeles to Tokyo. A few long time friends are along for the right when the flight finds itself under siege, while still aloft, from a host of hostile, malevolent forces. It’s up to them to survive their flight, and get the flight down in one piece.

This could be some good stuff, like Snakes on a Plane significantly amped up. Of course, it may not end quite that well, but the up shot here is that we won’t be too long in finding out. Turns out this one will hit theaters August 31st, 2012, so we’re only a few months away from getting an eyeful of this one ourselves. Keep it right here for all the latest!

Prometheus Gets Full Trailer Release

Oh my, folks…things only get better out of the Prometheus camp, as the full trailer has made its grand debut. And to make things even better, it’s looking pretty good indeed.

Featuring Noomi Rapace, Charlize Theron, and Kate Dickie, Prometheus takes us to the outer ridges of space, where a group of explorers make a terrifying discovery out in the great black expanse. But worse yet, the crew is facing muscle atrophy from years of cold sleep, which was the only way they could make the journey. And with Xenomorphs about to emerge, they’re going to need to get better…fast.

The trailer looks profoundly impressive, and this one should be a terrific release when it finally hits theaters, which is probably going to hit much, much sooner than you may have expected. This one will be rolling into theaters June 8th, and when it does, man, I’m looking forward to this.

Snow Piercer Adds Another Terror Hottie

Good news for those of you looking forward to Park Chan-wook’s newest title Snow Piercer: they’ve added on a whole new terror hottie in the form of Tilda Swinton, and that’s going to make this even better.

Snow Piercer takes us out to a world in which The Day After Tomorrow’s freezing effects actually already happened, and now, the survivors of such a world live as best they can. Specifically, we’ll be joining a group of folks who live on a train, all of whom are doing their best to get along in the icy, snow-covered world in which we now all live.

Sounds pretty interesting to me, as far as I’m concerned–I’ve been known to enjoy a little of that post-Apocalyptia kind of dystopian fare, and this one seems to qualify in spades. They won’t even start shooting this one until March, so a release date is, as yet, very much unknown. Still though, we’re in a very good position if this one comes off even half as well as it might, so keep it here for all the latest on this impressive little bit of cold.

DVD And Blu-ray Extras In Strong Supply In Paranormal Activity 3

I knew there was plenty we weren’t seeing in Paranormal Activity 3. When there were parts of the trailer that didn’t make it into the movie itself, I knew there was something seriously lacking from the main presentation. And word is that the terror hottie packed production, featuring among others Katie Featherston, will be getting a wide array of extra features.

The word is that at least two scenes that didn’t make it to the theatrical cut will join the DVD, and a further extension from there is likely. Just what will be a part of the end product isn’t exactly clear as yet, but that’s likely because they want to keep the contents quiet until the DVD itself rolls out.

Frankly, this is some very happy news, and we’ll find out just how much gets into the final cut when the DVD comes out next week–specifically, January 24th. It’ll come with Ultraviolet as well as a digital copy, so you’ll have plenty of ways to watch.

John Dies At The End Gets Fresh Stills

New images land from Don Coscarelli’s upcoming horror romp John Dies At The End, and better yet, this terror hottie packed package, featuring Fabianne Therese as just one of the terror hotties involved in this one, will be starting to hit the festival circuit soon.

John Dies At The End follows Soy Sauce, a drug that’s hit the streets only recently, but offers a high of unparalleled dimensions. Specifically, because it takes you into those other dimensions to witness firsthand what’s going on therein. But some of the users don’t come back as they left. Soy Sauce is quickly discovered to be a gateway drug–specifically, a gateway to a universe of malefic horrors unlike any we’ve ever known. And the only ones who can save humanity are a couple of college dropouts named David…and John. Chances are you know what happens to John.

It’s a profoundly ballsy move, telegraphing your punches like that. But Coscarelli has done impressive things before–he was in on the Masters of Horror series, you know. Did a fine job, too. But will he manage to pull it off with this one?

The stills are looking pretty sharp, and hopefully this will make sufficient impression on someone at Sundance to make the inevitable happen. Keep it right here for what we hope will be a release date soon!

Mad Men’s Abigail Spencer Hits Joss Whedon Directed Eyes

It’s always a delight to see an actress go full terror hottie, and though you’ll most immediately recognize Abigail Spencer as Don Draper’s mistress from the hotly popular series Mad Men, you’ll now get a chance to see her in a whole new light, in Joss Whedon’s upcoming film Eyes.

Eyes follows a pair of people, total opposites, who find themselves oddly interconnected. And this connection is going to mean something very important for the duo, though just what we don’t yet know.

Not a lot of details out there about this one just yet, but thankfully we’ve got the most important yet. This sucker’s going to have a pretty nice terror hottie presence all the same.

Keep it right here for the latest on this one as we get it, because with just this little bit to go on, you know it won’t be long before we get the whole story!
