I was afraid of this, folks, I really was–Thomas Jane’s big movie, Dark Country, is getting a release date…direct to video.

You might wonder why I’m so very unnerved by this development; after all, it’s a horror flick, after all.  Sure, it’s got a terror hottie in the person of Lauren German, and some big names like Thomas Jane himself and, of course, no less than Hellboy.  Ron Perlman.

And yes, it’s something of a standard as horror flicks go–two honeymooners save a car crash victim out in the Las Vegas desert, only to discover that the car crash victim’s carrying a lot more than injuries.  In fact, he’s about to take the newlyweds on a ride of their own–through some horrific paranormal whatnot that they’re going to have to cover up…whatever the cost.

I know, nothing THAT new, but still interesting enough to merit some attention.  But here’s the problem–Jane shot this using Real3D cameras.  He’d meant for this to be a 3-D theatrical release and paid accordingly.

But there will be no 3-D release, meaning Jane’s production just shelled out enough money to make steaks for all and found out they had to sell hot dogs.  Horrible news, I know, but at least we’re still going to get a decent movie out of this (or probably will anyway) when it hits DVD October 6th.
