Disturbed Brings Fresh Pack of Terror Hotties

(Arielle Kebbel)

Yes, folks, for the terror hottie lover in you, there is fresh news of a vast array of terror hotties coming your way via the upcoming film Disturbed.? Production is starting soon, and the terror hottie array is truly magnificent.

Featuring Arielle Kebbel, Lauren Cohan and Moran Atias, Disturbed brings us a medical research who’s happy to see her fiance following an extended separation.? But her fiance is not the man he used to be–six months without your fiancee can do that to you–and things will only get worse when the researcher, her fiance and their friends find themselves stranded on a deserted island that’s not so deserted…and is secretly home to any of a dozen horrors.

Sounds interesting, no doubt, though I’m a little dismayed by the knowledge that this is only just getting started rather than well under way and having a release date.? But the idea is enough to keep me interested, so I’ll be keeping an eye on this sucker for us all over the next few weeks.

Red Mist Presence Expanding–Trailers and New Website Appear

(Arielle Kebbel)

Well, I’ve been hawking it here for some time now, folks, and the time is getting steadily closer to when we’ll finally get to see Red Mist, a new horror flick from Anchor Bay.  I’m told that I’ll be getting a copy in to review so keep watch for that.  Teaser trailers are out in force and, by the time you read this the whole thing will finally be ready.

The DVD will be packed with special features, including a making-of featurette and an extended interview with terror hottie Arielle Kebbel.  And the plot, just as a reminder, involves a dangerous nutcase who works at a hospital.  He’s a powderkeg waiting for a spark, and the med students who also work there seem to enjoy throwing matches at him for fun.  One prank goes a bit too far, and Mr. Wackjob Loner winds up in a coma, near death.  One student gives him an untested chemical cocktail that gives him, somehow, the ability to possess people and use them as killing machines.

Sounds familiar, yes, but it could be fun.  This is one I’m looking forward to!

Freakdog Becomes Red Mist

(Arielle Kebbel)

So way back when, I was filling you in on Paddy Breathnach’s upcoming Freakdog, which since has undergone a title change and morphed into Red Mist, we didn’t know much about it beyond the synopsis–crazy loner winds up in a coma thanks to nasty med students who try to “teach him a lesson”, then when the med students try to fix the problem end up ejecting the crazy loner’s soul out of his body and allow him to possess others and use them as big meat killing machines.  And of course, we knew that it would have some sweet terror hottie fuel in the form of Arielle Kebbel.

Now, we know a whole lot more–there’ll be a widescreen presentation, a making-of featurette, an extended interview with terror hottie Kebbel, a cast featurette, and that it’ll cost about twenty seven bucks.

It’s fairly well par for the course–nice array of special features!–and the price is about normal.  So there’s no real reason, at this point, to not recommend Red Mist when it finally hits shelves.

Freakdog Packs in the Terror Hotties

And now, from the depths of Europe’s recently concluded Film4 Frightfest, we’ve got a new and interesting piece to talk about, Paddy Breathnach’s Freakdog. Frankly, Freakdog, which gives us plenty of terror hottie joy in the forms of Arielle Kebbel and Sarah Carter, definitely looks like it’s going to be an absolute winner.

The plotline on this beastie is definitely one for the “new and interesting” column—basically, a coma victim’s going to get a powerful, but untested cocktail of drugs administered to him, but it’s not going to cure him. Instead, it’s going to give him some kind of astral projection capability where he can possess other people’s bodies and use those meat shields to take revenge on bullying medical students who were, accidentally, responsible for his condition. Don’t suppose I mentioned that the coma victim was a violent psychopathic loner, did I? Naturally, we will wind up deep in blood and killing, and just how deep we’ll find out when this reaches our shelves sometime in 2009.

Red Mist

(Arielle Kebbel)

A full slate of horror hotties, including The Grudge 2’s Arielle Kebbel and Skinwalkers’ Sarah Carter have signed on for another bit of horror from the Emerald Isle, Ireland.

Now, you may not be too familiar with Irish horror, but they’ve been putting out more than a few solid titles for some time now. I fondly remember their zombie film Red Meat, and their zombie comedy Boy Eats Girl, so I find myself hopeful that Kebbel and Carter can help director Paddy Breathnach (formerly of Shrooms, can you believe it?) to put out yet another solid Irish horror title in the form of Red Mist.

The plot is nothing stellar, at least that we know of yet, but the synopsis I could find was so broad as to include just about anything; basically, a woman stops at nothing to get revenge on her cheating husband. In a film described as “supernatural horror” this could mean just about anything from ghosts to full-bore demons and beyond from there. Think of how screwed up your weekend would be if your wife called in a favor from a couple ghosts or demons or something who hung around whilst you were cheating on her.

Worse, imagine how awkward that’d be to explain to your mistress: “Jeepers, honey, I really enjoy the thought of cheating on my wife with you, but there’s this darn archangel with a flaming sword outside the motel and he’s looking REALLY disapproving!”

It’s expected to be delivered sometime this November, so we’ll have a bit of a wait on our hands, but for some serious horror hottie packed into a plot with all that possibility, I think it could well be worth it.
