New Release Date Announced for Priest

(Maggie Q)

Sony Screen Gems dropped a little chunk of news not too far back that you’ll be needing, especially if you’re looking forward to the upcoming comic book translation of Priest, with Maggie Q and Madchen Amick on the terror hottie end of things.

They’ve announced that the release date for Priest has been bumped up one week, and will now be hitting theaters August 20th.

In case you need a quick refresher on the plot, it features a priest turned warrior who sallys forth against an army of vampires, who have been at war with humanity for the last couple centuries or so.

This one should be a hoot, especially since genre favorite Brad Dourif is also involved, and it’s seldom a bad movie that gets Brad Dourif involved.  And even if the movie itself sucks, well, at least Brad Dourif will still rock.  And that’s not the worst news we could get out of a day.

Fresh Casting News of Priest

(Maggie Q)

There are plenty of terror hotties in Priest–both Madchen Amick and Maggie Q are on board–but the movie, described as a post-apocalyptic vampire thriller, is adding on cast members like no tomorrow.  Now inclded are Christopher Plummer and genre favorite Brad Dourif.

Now, if this sounds like a killer combination to you then you’re not alone.  Considering the plot of the movie involves all these folks in a post-apocalyptic world inhabited by, among other things, vampires and warrior priests, and the warrior priest in question is out to track down a group of vampires that kidnapped his niece, there’s a whole lot to like here, and you might as well get in while the getting’s good.

They’re still getting the casting together, so it’ll likely be late 2010, early 2011 before we actually see this unless they really haul, like they do on the relentless assembly line that is the Saw franchise, but I know I’m looking forward to it either way!
