Reykjavik Whale Watching Massacre Now With Trailer

Okay, it’s great to see that original stuff can still get some play in this highly derivative structure, especially when it includes clear terror hotties like Pihla Viitala, but even I’m a little suspect about a horror movie that centers on whale watching in Iceland.

It’s actually a fair idea, though–when a group of whale watchers discover that their ship has broken down, they’ve got to get a ride back to land somewhere.  A fisher vessel picks them up, and as we discover that the fishermen on board just went bust, everything spirals into madness and the titular massacre gets started in earnest.

Consider also that genre stalwart Gunnar Hansen is in here.  That’s right, now we’ve got a party on our hands.  Admittedly, a little bit derivative, but still plenty new to hold interest.  And with plenty of terror hotties on hand to boot, well, this is a good time in the making if it lives up to its promise.

Terror Hotties Show Up In The Darndest Places

Sometimes you just have to shake your head in the wonder of it all, which is the case with the new horror movie I found out about called Reykjavik Whale Watching Massacre.

The punchline there is, I’m not kidding.  It’s actually called Reykjavik Whale Watching Massacre and it’s about what it sounds like in which a group of whale watchers has their ship break down and they’re picked up by a whale fishing vessel.  Naturally this will not end well, especially when you consider Gunnar Hansen is involved.

Containing some highly exotic terror hottie in the form of Pihla Viitala, initial word suggests that it will be a cross between the Texas Chainsaw Massacre (not surprising given the involvement of the original Leatherface) and the Blair Witch Project with just a pinch of Evil Dead.  This sounds like a recipe I’ve heard several times before, but if it goes according to Hoyle, it should be at least interesting to watch.  Considering only the first stills have just been released, release dates are still up in the air.
