Shirley MacLaine Comes Back From Out of Nowhere

This will no doubt come as a shock to many of my readers, but Shirley MacLaine–you know, one of the first chicks to make psychic phenomena sound totally batshit insane?–is actually making a bit of a comeback as a terror hottie in “The Possession of Joel DeLaney” coming out on DVD from Paramount.

As for the plot, Shirley plays Norah Benson, a New Yorker wondering what’s driving the strange behavior changes in her brother’s behavior.  He’s started speaking Spanish and performing bizarre rituals in his house, and Norah has a pretty good idea of what’s going on…eventually.

Now, I don’t know about you, but speaking Spanish these days isn’t a bizarre behavior choice–it’s almost a survival skill.  We’re getting to the point where almost a third of the country speaks it.  But that’s beside the point–it’s still kind of hard to consider “speaking Spanish” a cause for alarm.  But the whole bizarre rituals thing? Definitely, yeah.

Keep an eye out for this one–it’ll be released on the order of fairly soon if it’s not out already.
