Lauren German and Nikki Kelly combine to form a sweet vein of terror hottie joy in Thomas Jane of Punisher fame’s upcoming film, The Dark Country.
I confess to some nervousness about this one up front—not only does it mark the directorial debut of Punisher Thomas Jane, but it’s also going to be one of those 3-D movies.
I’m on record—I believe very strongly that the entire 3-D movement is a sham of truly epic proportions, a gimmick designed to distract audiences from the REAL problem in Hollywood, that is, a dearth of quality filmmaking. Rather than invest time and money into making good movies with quality acting and unique plots and some choice special effects just to make things extra realistic, they’re going to dump buckets of cash on lousy gimmicks that insult our collective intelligence.
Jane calls The Dark Country a “film noir psychological thriller”, which really doesn’t make much sense as film noir was never really that interested in being thrilling from what I’ve seen of it. While recent coverage of Jane’s upcoming title have him effuse about the filming methods, he’s not going into a lot of detail about important things like, you know, the plot. Thankfully, I’ve found a synopsis that should help us bull through it.
Basically, a couple en route from Las Vegas are forced to deal with a body out in the desert, making their honeymoon one hellish ride. Which sounds like Jane stole The Hitcher at gunpoint Punisher-style, but who knows? Maybe he’ll pull one out of the hat.
