Relative horror newcomer Leslie Andrews joins a cast of a whole bunch of other no-names to put together the upcoming film “Sick Girl”, which will be screened at the HorrorHound Weekend in Indianapolis, among other likely stops.
You know, I really don’t know what to say about this one. First, the title is an abject ripoff of a Masters of Horror Season One episode from director Lucky McGee. Yeah, like verbatim. His was called Sick Girl too. I don’t even want to know how they got away with that. Second, apparently, Sick Girl is based on a true story, but no one’s bothering to promote it.
Word is that it’s based on Isabelle Shea, who killed her way across the United States back in the mid-eighties and got locked up for a goodish while. She was apparently also a child murderer, so for once I hope they don’t stick to the source material. But, third, the alternative doesn’t seem much better. Our Sick Girl is going to be attracted to her older brother and protective of the younger. At least it’s not the reverse, though the way it lays out is bad enough by itself.
Though Leslie Andrews, who looks vaguely like Audrey Toutou, might be a good addition. Hopefully she can get some scripts that aren’t fueled by incest and child murder.
